Client: Birmingham City University Technology Innovation Centre

Project: Multi-room studio facility installation.

Products Supplied: Studio Anywhere Modular Rooms and Booths.

Comment: Trying to develop studio facilities in spaces not specifically designed for that purpose has always been expensive, complicated and often results in a far from perfect space. In trying to solve this problem we decided to look at preformed room in room solutions. From the initial request for a quotation Making Waves were extremely helpful, providing a quote quickly and at a very reasonable total cost. As well as looking a sensible financial proposition it was also clear that Making Waves genuinely cared for their Studio Anywhere product, both in terms of the sonic performance and the general fit and finish, offering a range of colours and a quality beyond that found in many isolation booth designs that focus less on the internal performance characteristics. With this in mind we chose to commission 5 rooms- 2 small rooms for booth based recordings, 2 rooms suitable for individuals to work on mixing and recording projects with the latter two connected to a larger booth to be used as a live room.
The installation process began with a site visit where issues such as power and smoke alarms were discussed with other contractors, making sure that they were aware of the importance of retaining the acoustic integrity of the units at all times. Once delivered the build was quick with the resulting spaces offering a high quality of finish and excellent performance. Attention to detail was superb, with the installation team showing great interest in the product and the intended usage. It was clear that the team were passionate about music and their product, as well as being extremely friendly and professional - we even managed to sample Birmingham's famous curry houses one evening during the installation! Overall I would not hesitate to recommend the Studio Anywhere product - not only do they offer good isolation but also offer a very usable space that is well treated and finished, with an excellent support and installation service from Making Waves.”
