Xorbers are mobile tools for optimizing recording acoustics. Fast and easy to operate without requiring previous knowledge of the acoustics, the X 1 and FX 1 reduce interference from room reflections for microphone recordings at home, in the office or in a loft. The recorded sound is noticeably drier, with more presence. The key feature is a high-tech transparent film with extremely effective acoustic properties and a distinct practical advantage: During recording, the performer/producer can maintain a clear view of everything, including the monitor and fellow performers. The film curves around the microphone and the performer, and is large enough to permit both to be positioned in the acoustically optimal region. This enhances the recording quality and reduces interference from room reflections more effectively. As demonstrated by laboratory measurements and recording tests, the original sound remains remarkably neutral. The X 1 and FX 1 are extremely light and can be mounted on standard floor or table microphone stands, or can even be suspended, for instance above the table where the monitor and keyboard are located. The X 1 is available immediately, preassembled or as a do-it-yourself kit. The FX 1 can be unfolded in a few simple steps (see Animation FX 1) and can be refolded for transport. (The FX 1 is expected to be available beginning in May 2009). An adjustable microphone holder and a cleaning cloth are included. For suspending or mounting on stands without a boom arm, a ball-and-socket head may also be required or advisable (available for example in camera stores).
